Beginning the Citizen Policy Workshop
The 2026 Citizen Policy Workshop linked to youth supporters is beginning.
The workshop connects the work of youth supporters with citizens’ voices to examine together what people experience in their communities and what kinds of change they need. It begins by sharing everyday questions in citizens’ own words and asking how those questions might lead toward local policy.

Youth Participation and Citizens’ Questions
Local problems cannot be fully explained by statistics or institutions alone. They also begin with experiences close to everyday life: an inconvenience encountered while traveling, a scene at school or work, or a small problem that keeps repeating in a neighborhood.
Youth supporters can serve as a point of connection for listening to and recording these experiences. The workshop brings youth perspectives and citizens’ lived experiences together to examine how individual stories can become shared questions about the community.

The workshop process moves from reviewing and reframing agendas to brainstorming and writing an agenda statement.
The First Page of the Record
This post is the first record announcing the beginning of the Citizen Policy Workshop. The archive will continue to document what was discussed, how citizens’ opinions were organized into policy questions, and how those questions lead to future activities.
Rather than presenting predetermined answers, the workshop starts by making the questions that need to be examined together more precise.

Workshop notes on the rules and goals for the day.
Questions to Explore Together
- How can youth supporters listen to and record citizens’ voices?
- How can citizens’ everyday experiences become local policy agendas?
- How can questions from the workshop connect to future activities and change in the community?
Further updates on the workshop and its follow-up records will be added to this archive as they become available.
